You may have seen our trucks around town. You might have had us install your landscape, or put up beautiful glowing lights for the holidays. You might know us for our work at the Broadmoor, or maybe the Manitou Incline.
In whatever way you’ve been influenced by Timberline today, our history goes back all the way to 1982. It started with people that had a vision, and grew with people who had a passion. A passion for building this community, for seeing trees that were planted 20 years ago grow into incredible, shade-bearing giants that provide greenery and clean air.
A passion for contributing towards our employees, diversifying our services to year-round work so everyone can provide for their household. A passion to promote continued education, certifications, and the best support we possibly can.
And a passion for our clients. To proffer the well-being that they deserve and to employ the best use of their outdoor space to nourish the body, the mind and the heart. It began with creating a little bit of heaven, and continues through the hard work of our employees, the dreams of our leaders, and the support of our clients.
Timberline today is made up of 5 companies: TimberlineOne is the parent company to Timberline Landscaping, Timberline Building Systems, Timberline Rock N’ Roll, and Timberline TrailCraft. Each company provides a variety of services all while working together to make the community a better place to live, work and play.
The History of the Beginning
1980's
The company started out as Timberline Landscaping all the way back in 1982. Solely focused on residential services, 4 employees worked hard to get the company off the ground. 2 years later in 1984 we were able to purchase 1.6 acres at 5010 N. Nevada. Since then, a Costco and shopping center have emerged on that property.
1990's
10 years after starting the company, the partnership was sold and our owner, Tim Emick, continued providing excellent service and built a reputation that’s been seen across the expanse of Colorado Springs. The first million-dollar year for Timberline was in 1994, a huge milestone for everyone.
Certified & Dignified
1997 brought a few new advances for Timberline. We earned the company’s first Certified Landscape Technician designations. That’s also when we moved to 2480 N. Powers on 4 acres of land, which is now home to FH Beerworks and their delicious brews. This same year a large blizzard hit Colorado Springs and Timberline was able to diversify our offerings beyond seasonal work to include snow removal.
2000's
Looking to expand into further support of year-round work, Timberline Landscaping became part of the Christmas Décor franchise in 2001 and began offering lighting services to bring joy during the holidays. $5 million dollars in revenue marked a milestone for Timberline that year.
We earned the company’s first Certified Landscape Professional designations in 2006. That same year, we started a nursery for our own projects and wholesale. It ran for 13 years, both at Timberline’s headquarters and later at a satellite location. Economic changes aided in the decision to close the nursery.
2006 was a great year for us all around. On top of the designations and beginning a nursery, Timberline earned a benchmark $10 million in revenue.
Trailing Along
TrailCraft wasn’t always on its own. It was originally part of Timberline Landscaping, born in 2007 to offer trail construction.
2010's
Everyone’s favorite quad workout – the Manitou Incline, became a Timberline project in 2014. We had the responsibility and privilege to work on Phases I, II and III to reconstruct the beloved trail. We were also able to build the Northern Incline Trail, an addition completed in 2020.

In an ever-changing world, Timberline adapted and brought in a fresh look with a new logo in 2013.
Awarded Awards
Two years later Timberline Landscaping received 5 awards from the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP):
- Landscape Installation for the Broadmoor Hotel West Entrance
- Landscape Design & Installation for the Broadmoor Hotel Estate House
- Erosion Control & Ecological Restoration for the Manitou Incline
- Landscape Management & Lawn Care for The Olympic Training Center
- Landscape Industry Certified for the Most Certified Staff on a Team in the USA.

The location that we are in today, 8110 Opportunity View, was purchased in 2016. Employees spent 2 years working out of a trailer with connected units while we constructed what would become our new headquarters. 40 acres of space has helped us expand our operations tremendously.
Company Expansion
Building Systems
Timberline Building Systems was born in 2017, offering Varco Pruden steel buildings. It now includes stormwater management and erosion control.
Rock N' Roll
The next year, Timberline Rock N’ Roll was launched as a trucking provider, while bringing wholesale aggregate materials to landscape companies.
TrailCraft
To keep expansions rolling, Timberline TrailCraft was officially formed in 2019 as its own company, focusing on construction, master planning, maintenance and reclamation.

Timberline Landscaping earned an additional award from NALP: Landscape Design & Installation for the 39th Annual U.S. Senior Open. Christmas Décor was also awarded Veteran Franchise of the Year.

Tree Care
We began our Tree Care unit, offering arborist services both commercially and residentially, utilizing the knowledge and skills of the experts on our team. They diagnose, prune, climb and keep your trees healthy and happy.
The same year, Timberline Landscaping ranked #128 out of 150 in the National Landscape Management publication. The next year we leapt to #115 out of 150.
2020's
2020 brought a lot of things, but there are a few exciting, notable ones. We moved into our new headquarters; 38,500 square feet constructed by Timberline Building Systems. It houses a large shop, 2 kitchens, a large (rentable) training room and an outdoor demonstration garden.
Along with our new facility, we re-branded and aligned all 5 companies to be able to cohesively serve Colorado Springs and beyond.
